Institutional Biosafety Committee

The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) at MSU was established to ensure that activities with biohazardous material are conducted safely and responsibly. To fulfill this commitment, the IBC reviews and monitors all research and teaching activities by faculty, staff, and students that utilizes infectious agents, human body fluids or tissues, and recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules. Reviews and monitoring are conducted in accordance with the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules (NIH Guidelines) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL).
