Overview:

The MSU Beacon Park is open annually for the months of January and February for folks to practice their avalanche rescue skills before heading into the mountains.  Updates on conditions will be posted here as well as to our social media channels.

It is open 24/7! Bring your own beacon and probe. If you participate in one of our avalanche rescue clinics, you can come in to rent a set for free all season long during open hours, Monday through Thursday, from our Rental Shop for up to 2 hours to continue to practice your skills at the park.

Please do not dig up the transceivers.  The search ends at a successful probe strike.  We encourage people to practice digging regularly elsewhere, including the snow plow piles around campus!

Clinics:

We offer weekly introduction to avalanche rescue clinics while the beacon park is operational.  Please go to our Clinics page for an updated schedule of events and to sign up.
