Parent/Family Association Update

The campus is buzzing with the energy of your fabulous students and fall semester is in full swing. We know that your student will be most successful by connecting to the campus and community. Over the past several years the Parent/Family Association has helped sponsor renowned speakers including Maya Angelou, Conrad Anker and Tom Brokaw through the MSU Leadership Institute. We would like to alert you to a few additional Parent/Family sponsored activities which will be coming up in the next couple months.

The Parent/Family Fall Weekend will take place from October 14-16. We recommend PFA Weekend as a great way to touch base with your student, meet his or her friends and their families and take a pulse to see how things are going for the semester. The schedule is full of opportunities to reconnect and explore. Kick things off at the Bobcat Spirit Reception Friday evening at the Baxter downtown. Enjoy our scavenger hunt of local businesses offering great discounts and amazing prizes. Hang out with other families at the Museum of the Rockies. Enjoy the fantastic game day experience at our expanded football stadium and bring your ticket stub to the Volleyball game for free entrance Saturday night. Take in a class, go for a hike, hit the river for a raft trip, volunteer, tackle the fitness center and a free yoga class, or see a great motivational speaker/comedian. There truly is something for everyone. Click here to register.

Specifically we recommend that all families attend the President’s Breakfast on Sunday morning, October 16th at 9:00a.m. in the SUB Ballrooms. This is a terrific opportunity to hear directly from President Cruzado about her goals and priorities for the university. You will most certainly walk away convinced of her absolute passion for helping your student to be successful at Montana State University. If you are unable to attend any other events, please consider registering for the breakfast only. You won’t be disappointed!

Finally, the Parent/Family Association Board voted in their spring meeting to promote Service Saturday. This incredible program offered through the Office of Community Involvement gives students the chance to roll up their sleeves and volunteer, alongside community members, at a host of non-profits throughout the Valley. This is a premier way for young adults to meet others of similar interests and see how they can make an impact in their community. The first event is October 8th and all the details will be posted at this link. Please share this opportunity with your student.

Hopefully the transition to a new academic year is going smoothly for all (parents and students), but please do not hesitate to contact us with questions or concerns. Have a terrific week and we hope to see you all at Parent/Family Fall Weekend! Go Cats!

Jodie
