MAPS Atlas -- a product of the Montana Agricultural Potentials System -- is a computer-driven
geographic information system designed to improve decisions made by people who manage land
resources. A GIS can be an effective tool for land use planners, engineers, researchers, agricultural
producers, resource consultants, real estate agents, crop insurance agents, crop consultants and
others who need information about land resources on a regular basis.

MAPS Atlas version 5 requires an IBM compatible computer with a hard drive and a 1.44
megabyte 3.5-inch disk drive. You'll need 5.5 MB of hard disk space and 640K
of RAM (480K of free RAM) and MS DOS 3.0 or above. A color monitor and a
mouse are needed to take full advantage of the program features. MAPS Atlas
requires a VGA graphics card and monitor.
