MSU PD LEBA POLICE MOUNTAIN BIKE COURSE

The Montana State University Police Department LEBA (Law Enforcement Bicycle Association) Mountain Bike Course is taught by Sergeant Tom Bonnell and Sergeant Matt Wemple. Sergeant Bonnell and Sergeant Wemple are both certified LEBA instructors. Sergeants Bonnell and Wemple greatly enjoy mountain bike patrol, and are looking forward to putting on a great course.

Montana State University is located in beautiful Bozeman, Montana.  There are many exceptional mountain biking trails in and around Bozeman. An entire ride is dedicated to pedaling the scenic trails of the Gallatin National Forest, with an elevation gain of 2,000 to 3,000 feet.

Topics covered will include: proper bike and helmet fit, safety equipment, nutrition, types of cycling injuries, hypothermia and dehydration, stretching, slow speed bike drills, accident prevention, emergency braking, gears and cadence, police technical skill, bicycle maintenance and repair, how to be an effective cyclist, and LEBA firearms tactics.
