MSU Benefits

Benefits Available to all Eligible Employees (half-time or greater)

Our benefits are extensive, providing comprehensive opportunities from health care, retirement, life and other insurances, to wellness programs assisting with healthy lifestyle decision-making.

MSU is part of the Montana University System Benefits Plan. Our medical and dental plan ("CHOICES") is self-funded. It pays its own costs, sets the plan structure for its members, and hires Third Party Administrators (TPAs) to handle claims. CHOICES has been designed with the flexibility to meet the varying needs of a diverse work force. Eligible employees (0.5 FTE, permanent and fixed term, with six months' continuous service) have opportunity to match the benefits offered to their individual and family situation through our annual CHOICES enrollment.

Listed below are details of the benefits available to MSU employees. Base salaries advertised in vacancy announcements do not reflect retirement, medical, and other insurance contributions made by the employer. We invite you to use the custom benefits calculator for an estimate of the minimum monetary value of the complete compensation package for the job you are considering. Additionally, the optional benefits indicator details some of the cost savings you might also enjoy working at MSU.
