Using the Alternate Command Interface

The alternate command interface uses a different email address for the list server that includes the list name. This allows the list name to be removed from the add, remove, and review commands, making the commands shorter and easier to enter.

The alternate command address for a given list is listname-request@listserv.montana.edu, where listname is replaced by the name of your specific list. To utilize this interface simply remove the list name from the basic list owner commands and send the commands to the alternate address.

Example Using Listname Pond

Send these commands:

add Donald Duck <dduck@theduckpond.montana.edu>
remove/nonotify <pondscum@theduckpond.montana.edu>
review
quit

to pond-request@listserv.montana.edu
