The Commissioner of Higher Education administers grants and programs which support education. 

The Montana Arts Council supports cultural and aesthetic projects, building arts participation, opportunity grants, support for touring companies, and professional development grants. MAC Grants Resources

The Montana Board of Research and Commercialization Technology encourages economic development through investment in research and commercialization projects. Emphasized are projects that lead to marketable products or processes. Projects must be matched with non-Montana state government matching funds of at least 25%. Guidelines

Humanities Montana provides funding for public conferences, lectures, workshops, and exhibits. They also offer a statewide speaker's bureau, reading/discussion groups, an extensive media collection, television, radio, film, and video productions, research and scholarship, and a variety of publications.

The Montana Department of Transportation conducts research to discover, develop, or extend knowledge needed to operate, maintain and improve the statewide multimodal transportation system. Specific goals include: evaluation and advancement of new technologies, materials, and methods; development of design and analysis techniques; and study of current transportation challenges.

The Montana Growth through Agriculture Program offers investments for new and innovative agricultural endeavors that add value, create jobs and grow the agricultural economy.
