South Hedges

If you are looking for an upbeat co-ed atmosphere where there is always something to do, South Hedges is your place. South Hedges residents are involved in many in-hall activities as well as events and organizations all over campus. Whether it is taking in a great concert at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, or a weekend sporting event, South Hedges is in the center of campus life.

Living Options:

With all male floors, all female floors, and co-ed floors, South Hedges offers double, single, and double-as-single rooms. Some of the special options available are a Sophmore Year Experience floor, a co-ed Business theme floor, a co-ed Arts & Architecture theme floor, a co-ed Honors floor and a co-ed Freshmen Year Experience floor.

Arts & Architecture are demanding fields that requires long hours and a lot of dedication. By choosing to live on the Art & Architecture floor in South Hedges, students will be surrounded by others involved in their field and will be offered opportunities for career exploration and group study sessions. South Hedges is also conveniently located across the street from the Arts & Architecture Departments.

The Business theme floor is for students interested in pursuing a program of study or career in business. The floor is designed to provide career exploration and exposure to other majors that allow for a career in the business field. Residents on the business floor will have access to in-hall English tutoring, study sessions, and evening presentations by business faculty and local business leaders.

The Freshman Year Experience floor is a co-ed floor open to students enrolled in the University Studies program – those students who enroll at MSU without declaring a specific major. Students living on this floor must be enrolled in US 101-US. Resident Advisors will integrate course curriculum into floor activities and programs. This floor is a great option for students interested in exploring the topics of critical thinking, the value of education, major and career planning, 21st century issues, interpersonal communication, and college success tips.

The Honors theme floor is dedicated to giving students in the University Honors Program the opportunity to live and learn together in an atmosphere that is deicated to holistic learning. Students in these co-ed communitieis will experience social and educational programs designed to promate intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and independence.

South provides extra long twin beds that can be bunked or lofted (loft plans can be obtained on this site), desks, desk chairs, and vinyl flooring.

All external doors are locked from 10pm - 7am; night guest check-in is available.

South Hedges Residence Hall Association (RHA):

The South Hedges RHA offers a variety of events to keep students actively involved in the community. Some of the major events include Halloween trick-or-treating for local elementary schools, weekly coffee houses, Springfest (with North Hedges), and the South Hedges/Hannon Annual Dance.
