Resident Director Testimonials
Maureen Walsh
As a Montana native, I have always loved being around the mountains. When I landed here for my undergraduate
degree, I knew it was someplace I wanted to stay for a while. I grew up in this Residence Life system at
MSU and the people I have worked with have been some of the hardest working, yet most fun people I've ever met.
I chose to stay here for my graduate program and move up to the Resident Director position because I believe that
we do our jobs because we truly care about the students. The people in our department have challenged me and
helped me grow both personally and professionally. The beautiful mountains and gorgeous sunsets definitely help, too.

I knew MSU was the fit for me as soon as I interviewed here. After arriving, I quickly learned two things, first, that the Department
of Residence Life at MSU is unlike any other I have worked for and second, Bozeman is absolutely beautiful and an amazing place
to call home. The staff at MSU is truly dedicated, the supervisors are supportive yet they challenge you and residents are at the center
of every thought and process. Working at MSU is fast paced and intense, however I wouldn't trade the job for any other!
The mountains and many outdoor activities are not bad perks as well!

I have to say that the biggest reason in deciding to come to Montana State University was the kindness and personal
approach from the Residence Life Department and the people who work here. From the moment I stated talking to people at
MSU during my search to the point that I started my job, everyone was so helpful, friendly and genuinely cared about who I was.
The department strives to go out of their way to make the lives of students here at MSU better each and every day. The dedication
and commitment between my colleagues and the level of professionalism from the department has been unbelievable. I have been pushed
and challenged to be better each day by my supervisors, by my RA staff, and by the students!! I have to say that moving from Kansas
to Montana was one of the biggest transitions I have ever made and the pepole at MSU have made the transition amazingly easy to get over
and I have gained what I would consider to be life-long friends in the field of Student Affairs.
