Tammie Brown

Director of Residence Life

Tammie's 25 years of Residence Life experience includes 18 years with MSU. She is responsible for directing and managing Residence Life staff, programs and services in a manner which enhances the academic and social success of the students living on campus. Her goal is to provide a positive and productive experience for students - one that will be filled with new friendships and opportunities as they make MSU their "home away from home."

Tammie is a fourth generation Montanan whose grandparents homesteaded in McCone County. She calls Helena her hometown. Tammie earned a B.S. in Elementary Education and a M.S. in Personnel & Guidance from Eastern Montana College, Billings. Being married and the mom to a very active 16-year old leaves little time for hobbies. Her time outside of work is spent with family on outings which include camping, fishing and baseball games.

Associate Director of Residence Life

In his role as the Associate Director of Residence Life, Jeff assists with efforts to improve student satisfaction/retention, oversees the campus-wide community development program, supervises the academic living/learning centers, and helps provide leadership and supervision to the Residence Life staff. He received a Masters degree in Public Administration from Montana State University in May of 2000.

Jeff enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing softball, rooting on the Bobcats, and coaching youth baseball in the summer.

Assistant Director of Residence Life

In her role as the Assistant Director of Residence life, Tricia assists with efforts to improve student satisfaction and retention, supervises central administrative procedures, coordinates the tasks of Central Office Administrative Staff, develops and distributes educational programming resources, and helps provide leadership to the Residence Life staff. Tricia holds a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership from the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. She has previously served as an Assistant Director of Student Involvement and Area Coordinator at Midland Lutheran College (Fremont, Nebraska) and as a Residence Hall Coordinator at Central Washington University (Ellensburg, Washington). Outside of work, Tricia enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, politics, and traveling.

Amanda Bitz

Amanda Bitz

Program Coordinator I

As Program Coordinator, Amanda coordinates new student assigning, ADA requests, contracts, cancellation processes as well as the tour program. She also assists with customer service and administrative duties in the office. Amanda grew up in Bozeman and received a B.A. in English from the University of San Francisco in 2004. She is currently attending MSU and working on an M.A. in English.

In her spare time, Amanda enjoys reading, hiking and spending time with her husband and black lab.

Lauren Sherman-Boemker

Program Coordinator I

Lauren works directly with the Director or Residence Life on special projects for the department, such as working on improvements for the residence halls, developing assessments, and creating services to help students. She also helps out with customer service in the Residence Life Office. While Lauren was a student at MSU, she worked as a desk clerk and an RA in the halls, as well as a Community Assistant in Family & Graduate Housing, so she has seen many parts of living on campus. She graduated from MSU in spring 2011 with a Bachelors of Art in Environmental Design and is glad to be back working in Residence Life!

In her free time, Lauren likes to do anything outdoors, including snowboarding and hiking, and spending time with friends and family.

Program Coordinator II

In her role as Program Coordinator II, Dani coordinates break and summer housing operations, as well as Residence Hall front desk operations. She supervises the Program Assistants and works closely with the central office staff in regards to customer service and administrative processes. Dani lived on campus at MSU for 2 years and was a Resident Advisor in Hapner Hall. She graduated from MSU in 2003 with a Bachelors of Science - Secondary Education Degree and complete her Masters in Higher Education-Student Affairs in 2011.

Outside of work, Dani spends most of her time chasing after her toddler son but also enjoys camping, hiking, and relaxing with family, friends and dog.

Administrative Associate II

As Administrative Associate II, Blake helps provide support to the director team and ensures quality customer service for everyone passing through the front office. He also manages the department's solitations, schedules the hall academic centers, and maintains guest housing reservations.

Blake graduated from Montana State University in 2011 with a degree in Health and Human Development. Having lived on campus for 6 years and worked as a desk clerk for 4 years, Blake brings a familiarity with the department and the Bozeman area. In his spare time, he loves to spend time with friends, exploring the outdoors and reading a good book.

Jaime Sumner

Administrative Associate III

In her role as Administrative Associate III, Jaime helps to provide a welcome and inviting front office environment for students, parents, and staff. In addition, she provides assistance to the Residence Life director team, helps with marketing materials, and processes incoming housing applications.

Jaime graduated from Carroll College in 2005 with a degree in psychology. She brings customer service experience working in Conference Services at Carroll College and as a loan default prevention counselor for the Montana Guaranteed Student Loan Program. A Montana native, she enjoys the outdoors, hunting, fishing and live music.
