Running Scans

Updating Ad-Aware and running a scan.

  1. Double-click the Ad-Aware icon on the Desktop, or in the Lavasoft folder in the Start menu.
  2. Select Update and wait for the process to finish, then click Scan Now.
  3. Check the circle next to Full Scan, then push Scan.
  4. Once the scan is complete, check every box to the left of any malware
    found and click Remove.
  5. Click Finish.

Updating Spybot - Search and Destroy and running a scan.

  1. Double-click the Spybot - Search and Destroy icon on the Desktop or in the Start menu.
    Note: If you get a window titled Legal Stuff, just click OK.


  2. You may get a window recommending you remove Ad-Aware.
    Just select Ignore to continue.


  3. Select the Search for Updates button.


  4. In the update window, select any USA server and click Continue


  5. Select all available updates and click Download. When they're done downloading,
    select Exit.


  6. You should be back at the main screen now. Select Check for Problems to start the scan.


  7. If the scan has not started click Check for Problems. After the scan has completed,
    select all malicious software and click Fix Selected Problems.


  8. You may now close the program.

Updating McAfee and running a scan.

  1. Right-click the McAfee shield located in the bottom right of your computer screen and select VirusScan Console...




  2. At the main window, click AutoUpdate and select the green go button at the top of the window.



  3. After updates have finished, select Full Scan in the main window and click the green go button at the top of the window.

  4. Select Remove for any malware the scan finds.
