Setup Guide: Windows Update
Unfortunately, in today's world, an unpatched operating system means an unsecured
and at-risk computer. Many viruses are written to take advantage of security holes
found in the Windows operating system. As these loopholes are found by the cretins
who create viruses, patches to the operating system are a necessity. In
an environment where your computer is on line (and therefore vulnerable) 24/7, it
is important to download and install these patches as soon as they are available.
To check for windows updates on your computer immediately, go to

Please follow the instructions below to ensure that your computer is set to
automatically look for updates on a daily basis. Failure to have a fully updated
operating system could result in your service being disconnected to avoid the spread
of viruses.
1. Right click "My Computer", then click "Properties." The My Computer icon may not
be on your desktop; rather, it might be in the Start menu. For Windows 2000, first
navigate to the control panel and then double click the icon that says "Automatic Updates."
2. In the "System Properties" window, choose the "Automatic Updates" tab.
3. Check the box "Keep my computer up to date..."
4. Choose "Automatically download..."
5. In the pull down box, choose "Every day" and choose a time when it is likely your computer will be on.
6. To finish, click OK.
