P2P Guide: XoloX

Making the following changes in the XoloX settings and completely shutting it down when you are not actively using it will help prevent wasting bandwidth.

1. Go to the Tools menu and click Preferences.

   

2. Under the Network preferences tab, set the Upload Speed to the default value of 3, or lower. Using a higher value will slow down your computer and use additional network bandwidth.

   Uncheck the Box next to "Use the maximum download and upload setting..." This will prevent XoloX from using a lot of bandwidth when you are not using your computer.

   

3. Under the Sharing tab, you can determine which directories and types of files XoloX shares. You should only share files that you hold the copyright to or that you have explicit permission from the copyright holder to share.

   To stop sharing files, remove all folders in the list by selecting them and clicking the remove button.

   

4. Exiting Xolox

   When you close XoloX, it does not actually close the program, but hides it in the System Tray.

   

   When you are not actively using the program or any time you're away from your computer, make sure you close Xolox by right clicking the small X icon on the bottom right hand side of the screen and then select "Exit".
