Staff Senate has an opening on a council, committee, board, or task force. The committees and the work performed within them provide the heart and soul of change and innovation at MSU. Staff Senate has representation on over 20 MSU committees and it is through participation on these committees that classified employees are able to keep up with the pulse of MSU and effect change when necessary. Consider volunteering to represent classified staff by serving on a council, committee, board, or task force. Please fill out the application below. Then click on the "Submit" button to send the form electronically.
Things to consider before you volunteer:
- Your time. In addition to attending committee meetings, you must also attend Staff Senate meetings to make reports. Staff Senate meetings are held the 3rd Wednesday each month from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. As an appointed committee member you are automatically a member of Staff Senate and therefore can make motions, vote, and hold positions of leadership on the Senate.
- Your supervisor. Discuss your interest and time commitment with your supervisor prior to filling out the application below. Most supervisors understand the importance of shared governance and that participating on committees and the Senate are important parts of that process. They will allow you to take the time with pay in order participate.
