What does the Office of Student Activities do?
The OSA provides support to student organizations by registering the organization, providing advertising on the website, offering funding opportunities, and providing poster hanging services. The OSA also plans fun events for students throughout the year such as the Upheaval Art Show and Sale and the Day of Student Recognition.
Where is the Office of Student Activities?
The Office of Student Activities can be found in the Strand Union Building (SUB), room 222, across from the Ask Us desk.
How do I register a Student Organization with the Office of Student Activities?
Come to the OSA office in the SUB room 222 to request registration information. We will provide you with an application to be filled out by the President or Leader of the organization.
What are the basic requirements to register a Student Organization with the Office of Student Activities?
The Student Organization needs to have at least two officers who are registered students, 80% of the membership must be students (athletic organizations must have 100% students), the original roster must include a minimum of ten members, and an advisor must be chosen who is at least a .5FTE employee of MSU or a graduate student employed by MSU. Can I request funding from the Office of Student Activities?
Yes, come to the OSA office in the SUB room 222 to request funding information. We will provide you with an application to be filled out by the President or Leader of the organization.
How can I reserve meeting space for my Student Organization?
Once the Student Organization is registered with the OSA, a Student Organization Card is given to the group's leader. The card can be used to reserve meeting space in the SUB, athletic space on courts and fields, and advertising space.
How can I advertise my Student Organization?
There are many ways to advertise a Student Organization. Advertise your events on the Student Activities Running Board for free by picking up a form at the Office of Student Activities. The OSA offers a poster hanging service to all registered organizations. Refer to the Student Handbook or check in at our office, SUB 222, for more information on size and due date. Check with Conference Services, SUB 211, to advertise in the poster cases in the Strand Union Building. For more advertising opportunities, stop by our office.
