Fitness Center Expansion/Remodel

Needs
The H&PE complex was built in the 1970’s and has not evolved to meet the fitness/recreation demands of today’s students. The existing facility lacks modern and appropriate spaces for desired activities. Gym space, locker facilities, and lounge areas are also lacking. After 30 years of hard use, this building has significant deferred maintenance, obsolete systems, and a drab, institutional décor.

Solutions
A 20% increase in size and a major facelift will transform this tired old H&PE complex into a modern, inviting, and user-friendly new Fitness Center. Planned improvements include:

  • New Entry, Fitness Lounge, and Health Bar
  • New Cardio Theater, Aerobics Room, and Martial Arts Room
  • Expanded, remodeled, and centralized Locker Rooms
  • Increased gymnasium space
  • Upgraded Pool Complex
  • General remodeling to improve appearance
  • Address Deferred Maintenance
Total Project Cost: $12,600,000
