Carina Beck, Ed.D Director cbeck@montana.edu Carina Beck currently oversees the Office of Student Success and the Career, Internship & Student Employment Services Office at Montana State University. In this capacity she is charged with developing student success initiatives to improve overall retention and completion rates for the institution while at the same time bolstering career development, financial literacy, internship participation and employer relations. Beck received her Doctorate in Education from Montana State University and Master’s in Organizational Communication from The University of Montana. She has taught courses in communication, career development and human resources. In addition, she enjoys researching student persistence and new member socialization tactics. Beck and her husband, Larry, have two sons, a neighbors cat, two voles and several deer (the later two seem to have declared war on gardens -- Beck's other beloved past-time). |

Erin McCormick, M.Ed. Assistant Director erinm@montana.edu Erin has been at MSU since 2004 and joined the Career & Internship Services office in the Spring of 2008. She has a B.S. in Psychology from Montana State University and her Master’s of Education in Student Affairs, also from MSU. Erin serves as the operations manager for the two offices. She enjoys gardening and traveling (preferably somewhere strange and impromptu). |

Cathryn Davis, M.Ed Student Success Coordinator cathryn.davis@montana.edu Cathryn has been at MSU since 2009, and joined the Office of Student Success in 2011 as a Student Success Coordinator. She has a B.A. in Communication Studies from Virginia Tech and a M.Ed. in Student Affairs. Cathryn coordinates SmartyCats Tutoring and MSU 101 and enjoys working one-on-one with students to help them achieve academic success at MSU. In her free time, Cathryn enjoys skiing, playing soccer and baking. |

Katie Clark, M.P.A. Student Success Coordinator catherineclark@montana.edu Katie Clark joined the Office of Student Success in 2011 as a Student Success Coordinator. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s of Public Administration, both from Montana State University. Katie works with students connect them to Student Success Advisors. She also manages the Early Alert System, a student referral service for MSU faculty and staff, and the Return to Learn program which provides support for former MSU students who are working to finish their degrees. |

Tonya Lauriski-Karriker, Ph.D. Operations Research Analyst tonya.lauriski@montana.edu Tonya started working as a Research Analyst for the Office of Student Success in 2012. She received both her B.S. and M.S. in Mathematics from Montana State University and her Ph.D. in Statistics from Colorado School of Mines. Tonya supports the office with data mining, data analysis, and predictive modeling. |

Stephanie Kern, B.A. Learning Strategist stephanie.kern@montana.edu Over the past fifteen years, Stephanie has served students through various roles as a teacher, admissions counselor and career coach. She holds a bachelor's degree in education from Northwestern College, and is currently working on her master's degree in Higher Education at Montana State University. Stephanie is dedicated to empowering young people to discover their dreams and develop the life skills to achieve them. |

Samantha Kujala, B.S. Sam started working in the office as a student while attending Montana State University earning her B.S. in Business Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. Sam currently works in the office assisting with communications and promoting events and workshops through email, website, and other advertising. She also handles coordinating presentation requests for the office. |

Abbey Schmaltz, B.S. Abbey received her B.S. from Montana State University in Business Finance with a minor in Accounting. Upon graduation Abbey worked for a cash market intelligence company and commodity brokerage where she managed data services as well as wrote weekly commentary regarding cash market fluctuations. Abbey is a Bozeman native and enjoys spending her time coaching volleyball at Bozeman High School and being with family and friends. She is currently working on her Education Degree and looks forward to blending those skills with her financial background to help ingrain financial literacy in the campus community. |

Janet Barkow, M.A. Student Success Advisor janet.barkow@montana.edu Janet received a B.S. in Psychology from Colorado State University and a M.A. in Education from The University of Colorado. She taught Elementary Education for 14 years in Broomfield, Colorado. In 2003, Janet and her family reconnected with their Montana roots and moved to Bozeman. In Bozeman, Janet has worked at REI, taught Nordic Ski Clinics and been a K-12 Substitute School Teacher, in addition to working one on one with students as a Success Advisor. |

Laurie Edwards, M.S. Student Success Advisor laurie.edwards@montana.edu Laurie Edwards is a Student Success Advisor in the Office of Student Success. After receiving her Bachelors in Science in Health and Human Development, Family Science, from Montana State University Bozeman in 2001, she went on to receive her M.S. in School Counseling also from MSU. Laurie 's passion lies in guiding the developing student to become a competent, contributing member of society. She also enjoys spending time with her two young children and her husband, running, hiking, camping and horseback riding. |

Leslie Grotheer, M.Ed. Student Success Advisor leslie.grotheer@montana.edu Leslie is excited to join the team this year as a Student Success Advisor. She earned her B.A. in Psychology in 2007 from the College of William & Mary in Virginia. After graduation she worked for an international non-profit in Washington D.C., before returning to William & Mary to earn her Masters of Education in 2011. |
