Bozeman, the home of Montana State University, nestles against the Rocky Mountains in southwestern Montana. Sitting at an altitude of 4,800 feet in the heart of the scenic Gallatin Valley, it is considered a winter mecca for skiers. Luckily, it is also renowned for its summer activities. Surrounded by mountains, the unspoiled area is filled with hiking and biking trails, lakes and rivers, and world famous fishing spots.
Residents and visitors enjoy seven city parks with picnic and playground facilities, tennis courts, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Summer also brings theatre and music to the parks and Sweet Pea, an annual summer arts festival. Bozeman is a friendly city of 30,000 and welcomes visitors by airline, bus line, and Interstate 90. The natural beauty combined with the recreational, cultural, and intellectual pursuits makes Bozeman an attractive place to spend your summer.
While Bozeman and immediate areas are fun places to relax in and explore, every direction you head from town lands you in a scenic or historic location.
Heading east sends you to Livingston and the scenic Yellowstone River. Following the river's path through Paradise Valley places you at the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park, "nature's wonderland."
Go west to the birthplace of the Mighty Missouri, where three rivers – the Madison, Gallatin and Jefferson – all come together at the Missouri Headwaters State Park near the town of Three Forks. There you will find the land much the same as the Lewis and Clark Expedition found it when they stopped along the banks for breakfast. Farther west is the Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park and the city of Butte, "the richest hill on earth."
Venturing north leads to Canyon Ferry Reservoir and the Gates of the Mountains. Take a thrilling boat ride on the Missouri River through the scenic Gates, a natural phenomena observed by Lewis and Clark.
Going south leads to the west entrance of Yellowstone. The 90-mile drive through the rugged and beautiful Gallatin Canyon takes you by Big Sky Ski and Summer Resort and its majestic Lone Peak. Near the Park entrance is Quake Lake, site of the massive 1959 Madison Canyon earthquake.
With all that the area has to offer, plus the stimulating atmosphere of learning at MSU, why not apply today?
