Campus to Community: Bridging the Gap Join ASMSU and NECO for the next Sustainability Lunch! Friday, April 17th from Noon - 1pm in SUB Ballroom C. Speakers: David Baumbauer: the manager of the Plant Growth Center the Horticulture Farm and has served as the farm advisor to the Friends of Local Foods Townes Harvest Garden project for the past three seasons. He is an MSU instructor for Commercial Plant Production and Organic Market Gardening. Kina Picket, a professional skier and photographer will discuss his non-profit organization, Greenscool. He will adress the project's mission of installing renewable energy systems in the schools of developing nations. Greg Owens, the executive director of the Bozeman Youth Initiative, will present their efforts in establishing a mobile greenhouse for community outreach and education. Lori Foster will speak on the Bio Regional Network (BORN) and the annual Bioneers Conference. For more information contact Blake Bjornson at blake.bjornson@gmail.com.

MSU Sustainability Lunch
Wednesday March 11, 2009 – 12-1pm
SUB Ballroom C
Engage in an hour of dialogue with four of the leaders from different organizations at MSU striving for sustainability. Learn what is going on in the areas of Facilities, energy conservation, ASMSU and student groups. Discover how you can become a part of the change, as a student, faculty, staff or Bozemanite. !!Free pizza while it lasts!!
On the agenda:
- Jeff Davis, from Facilities, will be talking about the American College and University President’s Climate Commitment and how MSU is achieving these goals.
- David Klem, our recently hired energy conservation specialist, will talk about his efforts to curb MSU energy bills.
- Jack Hopkins, the new ASMSU Sustainability Chair, will speak about his goals for campus and what ASMSU is doing to achieve them.
- Matt Smith, President of the Network of Environmentally Conscious Organizations (NECO), will talk about what student groups on campus are doing on the sustainability front and how students can get involved.
- Twenty minutes of open forum to discuss the status quo and the future.

Montana State University Tree Planning Committee
Creativity Planning Sustainability
Meeting on March 4th, Wednesday, 3 pm. Ball room B in the Strand Union Building.
We will come together and discuss the future of our trees here on campus...(Bring your opinions and a note pad)
Then we will break into focus groups on the following subjects:
- Involving new trees during the Earth Week Celebration/ where the 100 trees donated by Cashmens Nursery and NECO will be planted
- Future vision/ How MSU will view the future grounds and ecosystem on campus and its surrounding communities
- GIS/GPS ideas and current progress/ Current Usefulness and the prospects of upgrading these systems to increase productivity in planning/development
- Funding and Policies for tree related projects and management/campus arborist, campus GPS/GIS assistant,fund raisers
- Quarterly Educational Tree Tours, paths and signs/ on campus urban ecology, lessons/seminars
Please come and help shape the vision of MSU grounds! Through creative planning, research and design we can infuse the campus grounds with elements of sustainability and beauty for many generations to come.
There will be home made food and drinks. Let us know if you can bring anything!!

This report required submittal of information on the Institution's sustainability implementation structure, and selection of at least 2 of 7 tangible actions that the University has in place or will implement within 2 years while the comprehensive climate action plan is being developed.
