Summer Online Courses:
Information for Departmental Staff


DEPARTMENTAL CHECKLIST

Date Task
October Include online courses in Summer Session Schedule of Classes and submit to Registrar’s Office (see format, below); contact Val Cole, 994-5516, valeriec@montana.edu for assistance
January

Coordinate payment of course development money to instructors developing first-time offerings of online courses (contact Anne Angermeyr, Summer Session, 994-7136, annea@montana.edu)

By mid-February See your online instructors for textbook information and include their orders along with your other summer textbook requisitions; submit to MSU Bookstore by February 25
By mid-May (Payroll deadline for summer appointments) Prepare Summer Session Appointment Forms for online instructors along with all other summer instructors (done in the same manner) and submit to Payroll*
May

If online instructors are using TA’s, determine method of salary payment (contact your dean’s office for assistance if necessary)

After first session classes begin

Anne Angermeyr will request that ITC set up course evaluation forms online and will notify instructors when ready

*NOTE: Online instructors will receive the same salary as if they were teaching the same course on campus.

 


 

SUMMER SESSION SCHEDULE OF CLASSES

Please include your department’s summer online courses in the Summer Session Schedule of Classes revisions that you send to the Registrar’s Office.

 

Entries for your online courses should be submitted using the format shown below (SOC 101 is offered as an example):

*CRN will be assigned by the Registrar’s Office.

**Online courses--especially first-time offerings--are usually capped at 25 to keep them manageable.

 

Be certain to include the highlighted items in your course listing; the Registrar’s Office will not automatically insert these into the schedule unless you specifically ask for them.
