Student Advocacy

Student Advocacy Center of Michigan The Student Advocacy Center of Michigan is the only independent organization in Michigan providing free, non legal advocacy to students (and their parents) who are eligible for general and special public education programs.

Alliance For Justice  As part of their mission for justice, the student advocacy branch works for students and the public interest. A valuable list of workshops and events is included.

A Model For Student Advocacy  A downloadable document written by Dr. Joyce DeVoss and Dr. Minnie Andrews from Northern Arizona University. This paper presents a model for student self-advocacy.

Student Advocacy Handbook for College  For high school students who are planning the transition to college, this extensive on-line handbook can be a useful guide for a model of student decision-making and assistance by professionals.

Building Your Future: A Guide to Transition from School to Work and Community  Developed by consumers to help students and families translate community service jargon and provide tips about advocating for yourself in the transition process.

Student Peace Action Network  This a grassroots peace and justice organization working from campuses across the United States. They organize for an end to physical, social, and economic violence caused by militarism at home and abroad.
