Charles Rick joined the Lewis & Clark region Troops to Teachers program in July, 2012. He serves as the area representative for Minnesota and Wisconsin. Dr. Rick’s educational experiences include eight years of teaching and coaching, nine years as a high school principal, and 16 years as a district superintendent. He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor for both the University of Minnesota-Duluth and for Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

While working in the education profession, Dr. Rick also served three years in the United States Army and then 27 years in the Army Reserves retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. Charles served in many military specialist occupations including Medical Specialist, Unit Supply Sergeant, Combat Engineer Company First Sergeant, Public Affairs First Sergeant, and Senior Retention and Transition NCO. He is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeant Major Academy (Class 22). Charles and his wife, Valerie, are proud of their daughter and three sons’ service to their country both at home and overseas in the Active Army, Army Reserves, and National Guard.

Dr. Rick's outside interests include golfing, reading, and exploring lifelong opportunities
