Authentication Requirements

In order to authenticate (log in) to the Banner INF VPN server, users must be a member of the Active Directory Banner INF VPN Security Group.

To be added to theBanner INF VPN Security Group please complete a Banner Account Request Form. Contact your MTL or Justin van Almelo with questions.

Instructions

Windows 10: 

  1. Click the Start icon and then click the Settings cog icon located in lower left of start menu.
  2. Click Network & Internet.
  3. Click VPN > Add a VPN connection.
  4. Enter the following information in the fields shown below (and in image):
    VPN provider: Windows (built‐in)
    Connection name:  Banner INF VPN
    Server name:  infvpn.montana.edu
  5. Click Save.
  6.  Click the Banner INF VPN connection then click Connect.
  7. In the Sign in panel (see image below), enter  your  NetID (example: a12b345) in  the  first  field  and  your  NetID  Password  in  the  second.
  8. Click  OK.  

You should now be connected.  In the future you can connect by clicking the network or wireless icon in the the lower-left corner of your screen and then connecting to Banner INF VPN.

Windows 7:

  1. Open the Start menu and click the Control Panel link .
    • In the window that opens if your view does not show the Network and Sharing Center link click the All Control Panel Items first to expand the panel.
  2. Click the Network and Sharing Center link .
  3. Click the Set up a connection or network link located under Tasks in the left sidebar.
  4. Click the Connect to a workplace link then click Next .
  5. Click the Use my Internet connection (VPN) link.
  6. Enter infvpn.montana.edu into the Internet address box.
  7. Enter Banner INF VPN for the Destination name, then Next.
  8. Enter your NetID and password in the boxes provided and enter MSU in the Domain (optional) box.
  9. Click Connect.

You should now be connected.  In the future you can connect by clicking the network or wireless icon in the the lower-left corner of your screen and then connecting to Banner INF VPN.
