Program Description

The Undergraduate Scholars Program, in partnership with the Big Sky Athletics Conference, is pleased to announce a call for papers for the Skyline Undergraduate Journal – an undergraduate research publication designed to showcase student research pertaining to athletically relevant topics. This contest is open to research and scholarship in all disciplines, including but not limited to exercise science & kinesiology, nutrition science, biomedical sciences, economics, social sciences, history, philosophy, and creative writing. Accompanying the call for papers is a call for cover designs. Art and graphic design students are encouraged to consider making submissions.

Awards & Eligibility

Each member campus may recommend multiple submissions for publication, pending relevance of topics and quality of writing. Cash prizes will be awarded for the top 2 articles selected from MSU ($500 each). Artwork selected for the journal cover is also eligible for a $500 cash prize. Authors must be currently enrolled students at the time of submission (Spring 2016) in order to be eligible for consideration.

Please review Skyline's policy page for a full list of eligibility guidelines, including policies regarding previously published work.

The submission deadline for Academic Year 2015 - 2016 is Friday, April 15, 2016.

Please note that all materials must be reviewed and approved by a faculty mentor prior to submission. Submissions will undergo an internal review prior to being recommended to Skyline for publication.

Formatting Guidelines

For the purposes of the internal review, papers can be submitted in any academic format appropriate to a student's discipline. Applicants are encouraged to review the formatting guidelines outlined by Skyline to become familiar with formatting expectations, should their submission be selected for publication.
