Wow! These are different.

Welcome to the new age. After four and a half years using our previous designs, the university has spent the last year planning this overhaul for the target audience pages. Strategically the university has reorganized each page to ensure a more focused message and that we connect our visitors to the right resources on their first visit and with a positive user experience.

So… what has changed?

Visually a lot has changed, but structurally even more has changed. Here are some of the key highlights:

Responsive design

The target audience homepage are all now fully responsive. What this means is that regardless of the device that you view the page on whether it is mobile, tablet, laptop or desktop you will have a web page that responds to the display size of that device. This makes our content more flexible and the user experience more positive.

Focused messaging

Previously www.montana.edu attempted to message to all of our key audiences which include the diverse sets of prospective students, current students and faculty and staff.  The new target audience homepages now focus distinctly on their specific audience.

If you are a prospective student or parent of a prospective studentwww.montana.edu is the page that will introduce you to Montana State University.

If you are a current student, you should now bookmark the Student Homepage at www.montana.edu/st or  www.montana.edu/students ifyou know, you're not into the whole brevity thing.

If you are a faculty or staff member, you should now bookmark the Faculty and Staff Homepage at www.montana.edu/fs or www.montana.edu/facultystaff.

Lazy loading and content on demand

The new designs feature some of the most modern coding practices to efficiently deliver only the content that you need or request. You will notice that on the External Audience Homepage (www.montana.edu) the page will continue to load content as you scroll down the page.  The Snapshot feature loads new images upon your request.

C.O.P.E. - Create Once, Publish Everywhere

Teaser: We will go into this in much greater detail in the near future. But know that the university is developing underlying functionality that revolutionizes how it communicates with you. These target audience homepages are the initial delivery points for MSU news, events and other content pieces that are generated in one location and then published in any format, structure and style necessary. Stay tuned as our Web and digital communications are about to get really exciting.

But what happened to my links?

If you cannot find a link that you previously found on the MSU homepage, it likely has moved. Here are some of the most important links that have moved:
