Fall Semester Classes for Faculty and Staff

Series: Yoga

Spring Semester 2010 schedule to be announced.

Fall Semester:

Core Yoga

Focus on core strength and balance. Expect flowing postures and an upbeat mood. Class is designed to increase endurance, and stretch and strengthen the body’s core muscles to promote body awareness, protect the back, and develop better posture.

Restorative Yin Yoga

A quiet practice that allows the body and mind to find a deeper flexibility and awareness. You'll leave class relaxed, calm, and energized.

 

Choose one or more of the following sessions:

Session 1 full

Core Yoga, 11:10 -11:50am, Tuesdays;

Session 2 full

Restorative Yin Yoga, 12:10-12:50pm, Tuesdays;

Session 3

Restorative Yin Yoga, 12:10-12:50pm, Fridays;

Session 4 full

Core Yoga, 1:10 -1:50pm, Fridays.

Series: Fitness
Title: Easing Into Exercise
This fun, friendly, social exercise class is developed for those approaching or already enjoying the retirement years. Class consists of stretching, core strengthening, balance exercises, some cardiovascular exercise and weight training for a well-rounded fitness routine.
Cost: $40.00/semester
Time: 9:10-10:00am
Dates: Tuesdays & Thursdays
Location: Fitness and Recreation Center (must be a member)

Series: Life Management

Title: Learn to Relax

Date: Tuesday, October 20, 2009

Participants will have an opportunity to experience a wide variety of relaxation techniques, ranging from a one-minute body scan that can be done anywhere, to a 15-minute guided visualization. Learn why relaxation is considered the best technique to manage stress.

Title: Can't Get No Satisfaction

Date: Friday, November 13, 2009

Learn how to recognize your own natural stress responses by discovering a colorful approach to your personality type and learn how to manage the stress in your life.

Title: Personal Growth Workshops

Jill Young, MS, CPC, Director, Faculty-Staff Wellness, can deliver a variety of personal growth or team building workshops upon request.  (15 people minimum, 1.5-6 hours)

Series: Weight Management
Title: Weight Management
If you are looking for a sensible way to lose weight, this 8-week program will help you develop healthy lifestyle habits for life long weight management. Learn to exercise effectively, eat healthily, understand emotional eating, set goals, and change habits through small group lectures and discussions with a dietitian, exercise specialist, psychologist, and peer support!

Date: Thursdays, October 1 - November 19

Cost: $25.00, includes nutritious snacks
Time: 5:30-7:00pm
