"M" Work Day a Great Success!
On Friday, April 21st at
1:00pm, about 20 volunteers from MSU gathered at the trailhead to the
"M" on Mount Baldy to participate in a project to spruce up the "M". With
10 gallons of paint donated by The Paint Factory, brushes and rollers supplied
by Tom Pike from Facilities Services, and some guidance from Stuart Jennings,
the group started out on their hike to the top.

The weather couldn't have been better at 72 degrees and sunny and after about 45
minutes, everyone, along with all of the supplies arrived at the "M". A
little bit winded, but still in good spirits, we broke into smaller groups to
begin working to paint over the red that had been covering the 4x4 border of
the "M" since the Cat/Griz football game last fall. No trace of red was
left by the time the 10 gallons of paint were gone.

Along with the border
being touched up, everyone helped to carry (or drag) many rocks back into the M
from where they had slid (or were thrown) below; and, touched up hundreds of
rocks within the M that were losing their (bright, white) color. We
cleaned up, and carried all of our trash back down the mountain by 4:30 PM (so
that we could meet at Columbos at 5:30 PM for pizza).
A big thanks to all of the volunteers who showed up. A lot of work was
completed in a short time; and, they made the day very enjoyable.
Let’s plan on this being the “first annual” of an event that we will repeat for
many years to come.
And let’s hope we can
complement it with a similar event at Homecoming each year!
