Rock'n the "M" Work Day a Great Success!
On Saturday, September 24th, 85 student volunteers from MSU gathered at the trail head of Mount Baldy to participate in a semiannual project to spruce up the "M."
With paint, brushes and rollers supplied by Facilities Services, the group started out on their hike to the top. The weather couldn't have been better at 72 degrees and sunny. Everyone, with supplies in hand, arrived at the "M" after a 1 hour hike.
A little bit winded but in good spirits, the volunteers broke into smaller groups to begin pulling weeds, replacing fallen rocks, and touching up the faded white rocks of the "M", as well as the red, green and yellow vandalism. Students enjoyed Bob Lashaway's talk on the creation of the "M" and the purpose of this volunteer activity. Bob is the Director of Facilities Services. All trash was cleaned up and carried back down the mountain by 1PM.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who showed up. A lot of work was completed in a short time and they made the day very enjoyable.
