Attendance in class is strongly recommended.

 

First Exam is Friday Feb 16th -- Doug Young will provide a guest

lecture on Feb 22 (thurs) at 3:15 pm This will go for about 90 minutes and
will replace both classes that week  (Monday the 19th is a Holiday).   
Please let me know if this is a conflict for you.      

 

Course requirements: Paper/presentation. Each student is required to make a 15 minute presentations in class and to followup with a summarizing paper. The presentation and paper will count as 25 percent of your grade. The paper is due no later than the scheduled day of the final exam: FRIDAY MAY 11. Guidelines for the paper and presentations will be handed out later in the semester.

Exams. In addition there will be three hourly exams. Each exam will count for 25% of your grade. The first exam is scheduled for FRIDAY February 16th ; the second exam is tentatively scheduled for FRIDAY March 23rd ; and the third exam is scheduled for FRIDAY April 20th.
