That’s what this guy thought. Another thing about this guy…this isn’t the
first time for him. Many nights he went
out thinking that he wasn’t going to get caught drinking and driving. Just because he thought that he was a better
driver when he was drunk, just because he didn’t get caught all those other
times he was drinking and driving, he thought that going to jail and facing
many consequences wasn’t going to happen to him. Are you that guy? Do you
think that getting caught for a D.U.I. only happens to other people? Heheheh…well, just let me tell you this…to
other people, you are that other person who gets caught.
IS
YOUR IDEA OF A GOOD TIME SITTING IN JAIL OVER A POWWOW WEEKEND? OR ANY OTHER WEEKEND FOR THAT MATTER?
WELL, IF IT ISN’T, THEN MAYBE YOU BETTER TAKE
SOME TIME TO READ THIS:
·
IN THE STATE OF MONTANA, IT IS ILLEGAL TO OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE
WITH A BLOOD ALCOHOL CONCENTRATION (BAC) OF 0.10 OR MORE
·
SO THIS MEANS THAT IF A GUY WHO WEIGHS ABOUT 200 lbs DRANK ABOUT SIX
BEERS IN AN HOUR, HIS BAC WOULD BE WELL ABOVE THE LEGAL LIMIT TO OPERATE A
MOTOR VEHICLE
·
SO IF THIS SEEMS LIKE AN UNREASONABLY SMALL AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL TO
CONSUME, THEN MAYBE YOU SHOULD BE TAKING A SERIOUS LOOK AT YOUR DRINKING HABITS
AND IF YOU MAKE THE BAD DECISION TO DRINK AND DRIVE AND YOU
DON’T EXACTLY MAKE IT PAST THAT SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT, HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL BE
FACING:
ACCORDING TO MONTANA ANNOTATED CODE OF SEPT 2000:
p
FIRST D.U.I.
·
JAIL TIME UP TO TEN DAYS
·
A FINE UP TO $500
p
SECOND D.U.I.
·
JAIL TIME UP TO 30 DAYS
·
A FINE UP TO $500
p
THIRD D.U.I.
·
JAIL TIME UP TO SIX MONTHS
·
A FINE UP TO $1,000
·
LOSS OF YOUR VEHICLE TO THE COURT
p
FOURTH OR SUBSEQUENT D.U.I.
·
FELONY!!!!
·
PRISON TIME STARTING AT ONE YEAR
·
A FINE UP TO $10,000
·
LOSS OF YOUR VEHICLE TO THE COURT
SO AGAIN, YOU HAVE TO ASK YOURSELF…IS IT REALLY WORTH IT TO TAKE THE CHANCE OF GETTING CAUGHT FOR A D.U.I?
I DIDN’T THINK SO.
