“During this past year I started running and walking and exercising and sometimes I go to the gym, although not as often as I’d like, and instead of cutting myself off from good foods like McDonalds and cakes, I eat just a little bit of that when I want to and I try to balance it with fruits and vegetables.”

“The things that I do to prevent cancer is mostly prevention.  I don’t smoke, I don’t drink, I do the best I can to get enough rest, I make sure that I meditate so that I am healthy on an emotional level and a mental level also as well as a physical level.  My way to prevent cancer is just to take care of myself.  My grandmother did die of lung cancer and one of my grandmothers had skin cancer so I make sure that I wear sun screen and mostly just preventative measures.”

“I include as many “safe” foods like tomatoes as possible and avoid as many “dangerous” foods like sausage or smoked foods.  I also prohibit smoking in my home or in my cars to avoid second-hand smoke.  Lastly, I think positive.”

“I abstain from drugs totally.  I sometimes eat what’s right , sometimes do a little exercising.  Also, besides [being] healthy physically, I keep myself healthy spiritually and whatever’s gonna happen will happen, but I know that I’ve done all I can.”

“I take small preventative measures on a daily basis because I know what I’m doing now will benefit me in the future.  For example, I’ll use margarine in place of butter, 2% instead of whole milk, drink water not pop, maybe eat one serving instead of two, or I’ll even use the stairs rather than taking the elevator.  I know these may seem like small changes, but in the long run they’ll all add up.”
