Depression

Feeling excessive sadness after being diagnosed with diabetes.

Depression often occurs in a diabetic after the loss of a loved one.

When a person is diagnosed with Type II diabetes, they may have feelings of helplessness, loneliness, and depression

Depression may be caused by the extra effort required to deal with diabetes.

 

Depression leads to a lack of energy; energy is necessary for diabetics to be motivated to take of themselves.

Depression often causes many diabetics to feel that they must stay home because long-distance travel often gives them a reaction that they can't handle. This fear makes them think that their diabetes is keeping them from doing things.

Depression may lead to abuse of alcohol and/or illegal drugs, which can be especially harmful for diabetics.

Depression is serious, and it is important for diabetics who suffer from it to get help from a doctor.
