Hemodialysis cleans and filters that blood through a machine. It controls blood pressure and gives your body the proper nutrients. The blood is sent from the body through tubes and is dialyzed in the hemodialysis machine; then the clean blood is sent back to the body. This process takes approximately three to four hours and is done three times a week.
