NRMB
Currently
Currently,
the NRMB has 110 members and there is one joint scientific session and
branch meeting per year. Due to the large geographical distance that separates
the members, it is not possible to meet more frequently. Therefore, most
branch business is conducted using e-mail, telephone and mailings. The
branch publishes it's newsletter, "Contact", on a quarterly basis.
The NRMB awards a Technician of the Year Award at the annual meeting.
It includes a plaque and a $350 honorarium. The applicants must be in
non-supervisory positions and have daily contact with animals.
The NRMB also sponsors two awards given at the Montana Science Fair to
High School and Junior High School students for outstanding projects.
This sponsorship is through the University of Montana Foundation and the
NRMB is proud to sponsor awards given to promising young scientists.
The Annual Scientific Session and Meeting is held at the University of
Montana's Yellow Bay Biological Station located on the east shore of Flathead
Lake in northwestern Montana. Attendees
are treated to a true outdoor experience while socializing, learning,
networking and taking care of branch business. The Station is the epitome
of "Montana Hospitality" with it's wrap-around deck, beach side volleyball
court, and rustic one room cabins. The food is awesome and the views are
unparalleled.
