Animal Care and Use Committee

This committee reviews
the institution's program for the humane care and use
of animals and inspects all of the institution's animal
facilities. Please contact us if we can provide you
with additional information about our department.
The charge of the IACUC
is to:
Review the institution's
program for humane care and use of animals and inspect
all of the institution's animal facilities.
Suspend any animal-related
activities not being conducted in accordance with the
provisions of existing laws and guidelines.
Review concerns involving
the care and use of animals, and make recommendations
to institutional officials regarding any aspect of the
institution's animal program facilities, personnel,
or policies.
Conduct formal review
of applications, proposals, and ongoing studies involving
the use of animals.
Meetings: Monthly
Membership The committee
is comprised of at least one Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
with training or experience in laboratory animal science
and medicine; one practicing scientist experienced in
research involving animals; one individual whose primary
concern is in a nonscientific area; and one individual
who is not affiliated with MSU. Other members are scientists
experienced in research representing departments with
major animal use.
Ex Officio Members: Director,
Animal Resources Center. Ad hoc members may be appointed
as deemed necessary.
