The Finance Board consists of six student members and three faculty members. The six student members are appointed by the ASMSU President and include the ASMSU Assistant President Pro-Tempore who chairs the committee. Appointments usually occur early in the fall semester of each year. Student members serve a one year term through the end of the current school year. The ASMSU Business Manager also serves on the Finance Board to provide budgetary information.
The board has two major duties. The first is to review monetary requests throughout the year from the capital fund, supplemental fund, and reserve fund. Second, once a year annual budget requests from ASMSU Committees for the next fiscal year are presented to the finance board. The board then review the ASMSU budget and makes recommendations for the following fiscal year budget. Recommendations for the budget or fund requests are made then presented to the ASMSU Senate for consideration. A vote of two-thirds (2/3) or greater is required for the senate to overrule a recommendation made by Finance Board, but only a majority vote to approve finance board recommendations.
