Make your voice heard at the 2015 Montana Legislative Session with the ASMSU Legislative
Decisions made at the Montana legislature determine the cost of tuition, the quality of facilities, the pay of professors and a host of other issues important to students. This makes the student voice incredibly important to ensure quality higher education in Montana. Students can play a powerful role in the 2015 legislature by joining the ASMSU Legislative Committee which create the opportunity for students to come together and present an organized message.The committee is made up of any interested students. It's a great way to get involved and informed about the issues facing MSU and higher education in the state of Montana. The committee tracks upcoming bills of interest, interfaces with University and government officials, and works with the student lobbyist, a student paid to live in Helena and lobby for MSU student interests during the legislative session. Garrett Lankford || ASMSU Political Director and Lobbyist
Garrett is currently a senior at Montana State University, with an expected graduation in Spring 2016. Majoring in Political Science, with an option in Political Institutions, Garrett will also graduate magna cum laude with a minor in philosophy. Garrett is the current Political Director and Lobbyist at Associated Students of Montana State University (ASMSU). During the 64th Legislative session, Garrett helps draft and pass proactive student debt legislation. Working closely with the Montana University System, Garrett has helped negotiate over $60 million in appropriations. Garrett has previously been a Legislative Intern in the Office of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. He is also a Hope fellow with the Democratic National Committee.
