Hello fellow Bobcats!
My name is Jordan Garceau, and I am your student body Vice-President for the 2014-15 school year! I am very excited to serve the students of Montana State.
I am originally from Glendive, MT, but now I truly call beautiful Bozeman my home. Not only was MSU the perfect distance away from home, but I knew it was the place that was right for me right when I stepped on to campus. Everyone, from students to faculty, was so friendly and went out of their way to assist when help was needed. Although this university has outstanding academic and research opportunities, it was my connection to Bozeman and its people that drew me in.
As a freshman here in 2011, I started right off by getting involved. I began talking with everyone that I met and became heavily involved in the Residence Life Association (RHA) in North Hedges Hall. My second semester, I became a Resident Advisor (RA) in Hannon Hall. It only took a few weeks as an RA to realize how much I enjoyed working with young students. This love lead me to be an RA the next year in Roskie Hall and then on to South Hedges Hall as the Assistant Resident Director. My years living as a staff member in the halls made me realize how passionate I am about MSU and ensuring that others are having as positive experience here as I am.
I decided to run for ASMSU because I am not done working for and with students of MSU. I want to this campus to be a place that students feel welcomed and supported. What better way to do that than student government! ASMSU is not only your student government, but we provide resources from the free LateNight Streamline Bus System to discounted movies at the Procrastinator Theater on campus. Please make it a priority to stop by the ASMSU office to get to know your student representatives and familiarize yourself with the services that are available to you.
In my spare time, I love to hang out my friends and family or just get lost in the nature that surrounds us. Currently a senior in Sociology with a Writing minor, I am so proud to be graduating from this outstanding university in May. MSU and the surrounding community has so much to offer, whether you enjoy skiing, shopping, or Pokémon battles. So, get out there and take advantage of it all.
