Hello fellow Bobcats!
My name is Levi Birky, and I am the ASMSU Vice President for the 2015-16 academic year! I am truly honored and humbled to serve the students “at this dear Montana State.”
I was born and raised in Kalispell, MT (nearby Glacier National Park), but Bozeman has become a second home to me. My hobbies include hiking, hunting, fishing, and spending time on the water. The wonderful educational opportunities and the equally wonderful scenery brought me to MSU in the fall of 2013. I am currently a junior studying Secondary Education, concentrating in Social Studies, with plans to pursue a teaching career upon graduation.
As a freshman, I immediately got involved in student government, and it has been quite the thrill. I served two terms in the ASMSU Senate, representing the College of Education, Health & Human Development (EHHD). Through this position I had the opportunity to forge relationships with many key figures around campus and some great student colleagues, meanwhile working to better the student experience on campus. This greatly benefitted me stepping up to the Vice Presidency, and I am looking forward to continue to serve the students. During that time I also held leadership positions in the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, the Office of Financial Education, and the EHHD Student Council, which gave me a grasp of the organization from an outside perspective.
If I could make one recommendation to the students of MSU-it would be get involved. Our campus has so many opportunities outside of the classroom for real-life experiential learning. There is a club/organization for you; and, if there isn’t then start one. GO CATS!
In Blue and Gold,
