MSU Leadership Fellows Certificate
The MSU Leadership Fellows Program, administered by University College in cooperation with the MSU Leadership Institute, challenges students to discover their true potential by developing ethical and critical thinking skills as they relate to leadership. It is intended that these students will become effective agents of positive change in society.
This interdisciplinary certificate program is for students aspiring to earn a designation of "MSU Leadership Fellow" on their transcript. Of the 16 required credits of leadership-focused course work, four are the required foundational and capstone courses: Leadership Fellows I (UC 202 - 3 credits) and Leadership Fellows II (UC 302 - 1 credit).
As a prerequisite to UC 302, students must fulfill a community/campus service requirement.
In completing the leadership electives (12 credits), students may only take one course within each unique subject rubric (e.g., only one SOC course).
Students interested in pursuing the Leadership Fellows Certificate must declare their interest prior to enrolling in UC 202. This declaration can be made in the Academic Advising Center in REID 418. During UC 302, students will complete an application to receive the certificate upon graduation. Upon graduating, students completing the requirements will receive certificates of completion and have "Leadership Fellow" noted on their academic transcripts.
