Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is available to students as well as staff and faculty.

Individual therapy provides an opportunity for self-examination, emotional awareness and growth. Sessions are facilitated by trained counselors to assist self exploration of your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. You are thus enabled to increase your self esteem, change self defeating behaviors, enhance your relationships and make more effective choices which may help you to feel better about yourself, your relationships and your happiness.

People may present for a variety of reasons including depression, anxiety, issues relating to food, chemical abuse, relationship concerns, adjustment to illness, losses, academic concerns, personal growth, etc.

Sessions are typically once a week for 50 minutes. The duration of counseling can be determined by you and your counselor, but may range from one to ten or twelve sessions. How sessions are conducted is largely dependent upon what you want. It is your time and how you want to spend it is important. Therapists do not typically tell you what to do, rather you will be encouraged to come to your own answers.
