Reaching Out: Recognizing Signs of Suicide & Providing Support
Counseling & Psychological Services is offering suicide awareness training for MSU faculty, staff, and students. Students in distress are often more likely to talk to friends, coworkers, or professors than they are to seek professional help. This one-hour seminar is designed to increase awareness of suicide and discuss suicidal risk on our campus. Participants will learn risk factors and warning signs for suicide and supportive ways to intervene and provide referrals to professional resources. This training is part of a state-wide plan to reduce Montana's suicide rate, and is being launched campus wide to help prevent suicide at MSU.
CPS staff is available to come to your office or group to present the seminar: All departments and offices on campus are encouraged to utilize this training! Please email or call Brian Kassar (x4531, bkassar@montana.edu) to learn more or schedule a seminar with your group.
Electronic mail is not a secure method of conveying confidential information. CPS requests that you don't use e-mail for clinical or other sensitive correspondence.
