What is the Wall of Honor? The Montana Early Care and Education Wall of Honor acknowledges individuals and early childhood programs that have achieved milestones in their training, formal education and/or quality status in the past year. Created by the Early Childhood Project in October 2005, the first Wall of Honor banner was unveiled at the annual conference for the Montana Association for the Education of Young Children (MtAEYC). Attended by those seeking professional development in the early childhood field, the annual MtAEYC conference serves those who work with young children and their families in a variety of settings. These settings include child care centers, family and group child care home programs, preschools, Head Start and Early Head Start, public schools, and a variety of community based agencies that offer early childhood support services. Displayed for the first time at the MtAEYC conference, the Wall of Honor accompanied the Twinkle Twinkle You’re a Star recognition dinner where over 100 guests joined together to honor early childhood professionals and their achievements. It was a sparkly event complete with good food, good music, and good company! Individuals and programs listed on the Wall of Honor have achieved early childhood educational and program quality standards in the following ways: ~ Have earned a new Child Development Associate (CDA) credential through the national Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition or have renewed their credential in the past year. ~Have completed a Child Development Specialist Apprenticeship in the past year. ~Have earned an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education with an emphasis in early childhood at a Montana college or university in the past year. ~Have received program accreditation through the National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) and/or the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). ~Have been designated as a Star I or Star II Quality Program Each year the Early Childhood Project will continue to acknowledge recent achievements in early care and education across the state of Montana through the Wall of Honor. We would love to
see the banner travel around the state giving further recognition to those
who go above and beyond to give high quality services to young children and
families. If you are interested in displaying the Wall of Honor in
your program or community, please contact the Early Childhood Project at
Montana State University. Special thanks goes to MSU Graphics, Big Look Graphics, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services Early Childhood Services Bureau’s Best Beginnings Programs and all of our Early Childhood Higher Education Consortium partners.
