Programs & Research Projects
In Spring 2009 the Forge Project begins. In order to promote active archaeology in the classroom, a Bronze Age forge (Timmna-type) will be built by education majors and art majors, and me. We will fire it and cast bronze implements to experience the technology of 3500 years ago first hand. The education majors will then practice teaching this technology and material culture to K-12 social studies classes, and guide them to pour their own bronze implements. As well, we will be developing accompanying instructional materials.
