Before the ceremony:

  • Students eligible to participate in the commencement ceremonies will receive email information from the Registrar’s Office. Please respond at the "MY Info" student secure website. The College of EHHD will send letters to their students eligible to participate in the commencement. If you or your family do not receive a letter by April 10th, please call this number: 406-994-3440.

  • Students are invited to attend the annual "Graduation Fair" held at the MSU SUB Ballroom A on April 1st anytime between 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Any students graduating with “honors” will wear colored tassels. A list of names of those eligible for those tassels will be at the bookstore. If you are such a student, check at the bookstore service desk when you purchase your cap and gown.
  • Any student needing special assistance for himself/herself or for an invited guest should call 406-994-3440 as soon as possible.
  • You may invite guests to the ceremony. We suggest limiting guests to six, but this is not a requirement.
  • The university requests that you reply if you plan to attend the university’s main Commencement Ceremony. This helps to provide an approximate number for seating. If you do not reply, but you change your mind later and plan to attend, you may attend anyway. Rehearsal for the university's main Commencement Ceremony is Friday, May 9th at 4 p.m., but attendance at this rehearsal is not required.
  • There is no rehearsal or response required to attend the EHHD ceremony.

The day of the ceremony: May 10, 2008

  • The EHHD ceremony begins promptly at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 10th in the Shroyer Gymnasium, which is located on the west end of the Hosaeus Health and P.E. complex on Grant Street.
  • The EHHD ceremony will last about 1 hour 20 min. This will provide time to proceed to the university main Commencement Ceremony.
  • Students should arrive at Shroyer Gym at about 7:00 to 7:15 a.m. There will be juice, coffee, and pastries for students and guests.
  • Before or by 7:30 a.m. students should report in cap and gown to the tables set up on the southeast end of Shroyer. At the table area, pick up a name card and line up with your department in the long hallway which leads from Shroyer to the Fieldhouse.
  • Students may line up in random order. It is important to keep the name card throughout the ceremony. The card is given to “the reader” who will announce your name as you walk across the stage to receive your diploma cover.
  • The processional will begin promptly at 8 a.m. and will be led by the deans, stage party, and the EHHD faculty. A faculty member who has been designated Grand Marshall will lead the students of each department.
  • A photographer will take your picture immediately after you receive your diploma cover. This will be sent to you in the mail (to the address on your name card) with purchase options.
  • Only diploma covers are awarded to students. Students who have completed requirements in December 2007 may pick up their diplomas between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. the day of commencement at the Registrar’s Office. Picture ID is required. All other diplomas will be mailed.
  • Shortly after the EHHD ceremony, students will line up to march in the processional for the university's main Commencement Ceremony. There will be a marshall holding a sign to lead you to the line up area on the southeast end of the Worthington Arena.
  • Students do not walk across the stage during the university's main Commencement Ceremony. Each college is recognized by the Dean and the President.
