Several NASA educators will lead engaging, hands-on workshops for teachers during Astronomy Day at the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman .
In the workshops he teaches, NASA education specialist Tony Leavitt will present the activities via the online technology of Skype with a colleague facilitating in the classroom. Please bring your own laptop to Mr. Leavitt's workshops, as you will be exploring the NASA Website and education resources available there.

Mars Bound (grades 5-9)
8:00am-9:30am; MoR Red Start Classroom; max 35 participants
Tony Leavitt, NASA Education SpecialistJust like NASA mission planners, participants will design a simulated mission to the Martian surface, solving
issues of mass, power and cost.
Mars Uncovered (grades 5-9)
9:45am-10:45am; MoR Red Start Classroom; max 35 participants
Tony Leavitt, NASA Education SpecialistLearn to think like a planetary scientist and analyze pictures of the Martian surface. Identify craters
and channels to learn about the geologic history of Mars.
NASA Education Activity Training (NEAT): An Extension of the SPOT Program (grades 5-9)
11:am-12:00pm; MoR Red Start Classroom; max 35 participants

Activities complement the current SPOT presentations for students by focusing on the solar system,
solar activity, space weather, and the exciting last transit of Venus during our lifetime!
Ice in the Solar System (grades K-12)
2:00-3:00pm; MOR Seminar Room with a max of 25
Shirley Greene, (NASA Solar System Ambassador & Educator)
K-12 educators will learn about ice in our solar system, how we know it exists, and how you can teach about it. Educators will also learn about engaging NASA hands-on activities to incorporate into their classrooms.

Please note that each workshop will be held in either the Museum of the Rockies Red Start Classroom,
or in the Museum of the Rockies Seminar Room.
Workshop registrations will be limited so be sure to sign up early!
