Welcome to University Studies

University Studies is the academic program of choice for 25% of first-year students at Montana State University as well as the academic home for continuing students who are transitioning into another major at MSU.

At University Studies, we offer complete academic advising for our own majors as well as students in the Pre-Med option and students in transition between majors. We also teach approximately 45 sections of US 101--the University Studies First-Year Seminar--a foundational component of MSU's CORE 2.0.

University Studies is the largest program in University College, one of MSU's eight colleges (Agriculture; Arts & Architecture; Business; Education, Health & Human Development; Engineering; Letters & Science; Nursing; and University College).

One of the objectives of University Studies is to contribute to a successful first year for MSU undergraduates. Through professional academic advising and high-quality seminar instruction, we help students understand the possibilities and responsibilities of the academic experience through an exploration of their interests and goals and the development of intellectual knowledge and skills.

Our office also coordinates the National Student Exchange program, which assists students in arranging a year of study at one of more than 150 colleges and universities in the United States and its territories--while seamlessly maintaining progress toward a degree at MSU.

Whether you are a prospective student, parent, current University Studies major, or faculty member--or are simply interested in finding out more about what our program has to offer, we invite you to explore our website.

If you would like to talk with a member of our staff, please contact us. We strive to help students succeed.
