Diane Donnelly, MEd -- Director

 

Diane is the Director of University Studies and the Academic Advising Center. When it comes to cross-campus academic advising and curricular issues, Diane shines. She brings energy, knowledge, and expertise. She enjoys the continual contact with students and the variety of courses and faculty. Diane's undergraduate degree is in English Literature, and she received her MEd in Adult and Higher Education from MSU.  Diane also received the 2010 National Academic Advising Association Region 8 Administrator of the Year Award.



 

Patricia Lane, MEd -- Academic Advising Coordinator

 

Pat Lane Pat Lane is currently the Academic Advising Coordinator for the Academic Advising Center at MSU.  She has a master's degree in Adult and Higher Education from Montana State University and a BS in Psychology & Sociology.  Pat has been an academic advisor at MSU since 1999.  She also teaches the First Year Seminar course for University Studies and assists in advising Student Athletes and Pre-University Studies students.  Off campus she enjoys golfing, gardening and fly-fishing in her spare time.

 

Emily Edwards , MFA -- First-Year Seminar Director, American Studies Advisor

 

Emily Edwards Emily Edwards is an academic advisor and the First Year Seminar Director in the University Studies department. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, she studied literature and film at Ohio University, and received her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Arizona. In addition to administering and teaching the first year seminar, she advises American Studies majors and frequently teaches with the education department.

 

Ryan Storment, MA -- Assistant Seminar Director, Advisor

 

Ryan Storment Ryan Storment is an academic advisor and the Assistant Director for the First Year Seminar in the University Studies department.  Ryan received his BA and MA in English Literature from Montana State University and has most recently taught the Knowledge and Community Seminar class for the MSU College of Letters and Science and College Writing I for the Department of English.  He enjoys writing, photography, camping, travelling, and especially spending time with his wife and new daughter.

 

Judi Haskins, MS -- Students-in-Transition Advisor

 

Judi is currently the Students-in-Transition Advisor in the Academic Advising Center at MSU. Originally from Plains, Montana, she received a BS in Psychology and an MS in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Idaho before returning to her home state in 2004. She currently serves as the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Region 8 Chairperson. Judi and her husband are proud new parents of a baby girl.



 

Karen Steele, MEd -- Academic Advisor, National Student Exchange Coordinator

 

Karen Steele Karen is an academic advisor and the Coordinator of the National Student Exchange program. She received her BS in Civil Engineering and her MEd in Curriculum and Instruction both from the University of Colorado. Karen also teaches in the University Studies and Mathematics departments. A little known fact about Karen is that she has lived in eight and traveled to most of the states, which explains her excitement and dedication to sending Montana State students all over the country. Her passion for the outdoors is apparent and she is always planning the next adventure for her husband and two energetic boys.

 

Lena May-Fraser, MS -- Academic Advisor, Pre-Med Advisor

 

Lena May-Fraser Lena May-Fraser is an academic advisor in the University Studies department. Lena is originally from Helena, Montana and completed both her MS and BS in Psychological Science at Montana State University. Lena currently teaches the First Year Seminar course for University Studies and most recently served as an academic counselor for TRiO-Student Support Services. In addition, she previously coordinated and taught a portion of MSU's Introductory Psychology course.

 

Mary Noll, MA -- Liberal Studies Advisor, Director Emerita

 

Mary began her career in University Studies in 1979 as an intern while completing her Master’s Degree. During the subsequent 26 years, she served as an academic advisor, taught the First Year Seminar for 12 years, chaired orientation and scholarships, and was the National Student Exchange Coordinator and Assistant Director for six years. During her final five years before retiring in June of 2005, she served as the Director of University Studies. Although Mary continues to stay involved with University Studies as an academic advisor on a part-time basis, she is enjoying retirement with her husband and two dogs hiking, skiing, camping, and visiting grandchildren.

 

Joe Barr, MA -- Academic Advisor, International Student Liaison, Pre-Med Advisor

 

Joe Barr After a 2-year stint with the Peace Corps at Moldova State University in Eastern Europe, Joe rejoined the academic advising team at Montana State University in 2007.  In addition to general advising, he advises students in the Pre-Med program. Concerning his own education, Joe received a BA in Modern Language/French at Montana State University and an MA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Kansas.  His strong interest in all things cultural and linguistic has also led him to work closely with the Office of International Programs.    

 


 

Teresa Greenwood, MA -- Liberal Studies Advisor

 

Teresa Teresa Flynn Greenwood is an academic advisor and instructor in the Liberal Studies program. Originally from Grand Junction, CO, she received her B.A. degree in English and an M.A. degree in Communication Development from Colorado State University. Teresa has been working at MSU since 2004 and was the assistant director of the CLS 101 University Seminar from 2006 to 2010. When she's not working with students, Teresa enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, travelling and spending time with her husband and her dog.

 

Scarlet Reierson, BA -- Liberal Studies Administrative Associate

 

Scarlett Scarlet Reierson, from Rosebud, Montana, recently graduated with a BA in Environmental Studies and minor in Communication Studies from Rocky Mountain College. She joined the staff at Montana State University in August 2006. She serves as the Administrative Associate for the American Studies and Liberal Studies degrees as well as the Undergraduate Scholars Program.
