Manually Setting the Antivirus Scheduler for Both 

Windows 9.X and NT

Windows 95 or 98, use the McAfee VirusScan Scheduler

1. To set the scheduler after installing the McAfee VirusScan follow these steps:

2. Click on the Start Button

3. Click on Programs

4. Click on the McAfee VirusScan

5. Go to the McAfee VirusScan Scheduler

6. Double click on AutoUpDate

7. Click on Scheduler Tab

8. Check Enable

9. It usually defaults to a weekly run starting at noon of the current day.

10. Check Randomize Within an Hour. This allows it to run between 12:00 and 1:00.

11. Click on Apply and then OK.

12. Close the scheduler.

In Windows NT use the Net Shield Console

1. Click on the Start Button

2. Click on Programs

3. Click on the Network Associates NetShield NT

4. Click on NetShield Console

5. Double click on AutoUpDate

6. Double click on Automatic DAT Update

7. Click on Schedule...

8. Check Enable scheduler

9. It defaults to a weekly run starting at 2 a.m. Sunday.

10. Click on OK.

Both the Net Shield Console in NT and the McAfee VirusScan Scheduler in 9x are pre-configured to go to the update site ftp.nai.com <ftp://ftp.nai.com>. This can be changed to point at \\topaz\mcafee\datfiles\4.x.
