Information Resources
The Web
One of the most up-to-date information resources available here at MSU-Bozeman is the World-Wide Web. The Web has revolutionized Internet access making it incredibly easy to navigate sites all over the globe. Sit down at any networked PC, open a web browser and start your "surfing" at The MSU- Bozeman home page: http://www.montana.edu.
- The Welcome! link offers an introduction to Bozeman and the region, including a directory and map of campus.
- You'll find timely announcements and University news articles on the MSU Homepage and in News Archives
- See Current Students or Prospective Students for everything you need to know if you are or want to be a student at MSU- Bozeman. The Viewbook, academic calendar, course catalog, schedule of classes, campus calendar, and student directory are all there along with links to student service organizations like Career Services, Financial Aid, Advance by Choice, ASMSU, the Undergraduate Scholars Program, and the Student Health Service. The MSU-Bozeman catalog and schedule of classes are especially useful. The catalog outlines the degree programs offered and provides descriptions of all the courses while the schedule of classes tells you what classes will be taught next semester, when, where, and by whom, not to mention how many seats are still available. Between the two of them you can decide on a major and select the classes you need to complete it.
- Then, if you have further questions about our academic, research and service programs, check them out in Colleges & Departments.
- The Directories link brings you faculty/staff and student directories and e-mail address search facilities for MSU-Bozeman, MSU-Billings, MSU-Northern, and the University of Montana. E-mail addresses for the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education and Montana state government are available as well.
- Library & Information Resources connects you to a variety of on-line services including the Renne Library Web page; the home page of the Office of Research & Technology Transfer; our campus information system, MSUinfo; and KUSM, Montana's public television station. Don't miss the library's Web site. The entire catalog is on-line as are the Encyclopedia Britannica, the UnCover periodicals catalog, Medline, and the Government Printing Office 's database of government documents; and their Internet Resources page is an excellent starting point for your first research project.
Help!
As Scott Adams' Dilbert says, "Technology is not for wimps." So, it's inevitable that you will find yourself in need of technical support one of these days. When you do, call the Help Desk, 994-1777.
- The Help Desk is staffed from 7 am to midnight, Monday through Friday. They can resolve almost any problem you might have with your account and if they can't, they know who can. If you need software for dialing in to the network, the Help Desk has it. Most problems can be solved over the phone. Some exceptions are problems with your account or password problems. If you forget your password, you'll need to appear in person with some identification before the Help Desk staff can reset it for you.
